I’m a software developer, a mentor, and a storyteller. I’m a passionate advocate for inclusive and equitable education technology. I’m a proponent of critical and thoughtful uses of technology for learning.

Where I am now

Product Manager, Raspberry Pi Foundation

I am currently the product manager for Code Club, Coolest Projects, and Astro Pi, 3 products focused on community building and non-formal computer science education. I work to deliver high quality digital experiences for young people, educators, and volunteers around the world who are passionate about building and shaping technology.

Where I’ve been

My path to focusing on education technology is one told in 3 threads.

I started with a love of storytelling and community-building.

Through film, I became interested in technology and computer graphics, and majored in computer science in college. I worked as a software developer for 4 years, first at Adobe and then at eko, an interactive media start-up.

Starting with my college introductory computer science class, I became a teaching assistant and later a volunteer teacher, using my love of storytelling and technology to teach introductory computer science in low-income high schools and middle schools.

I began to weave these threads together during my M.Sc in Education (Digital and Social Change) at the University of Oxford. This program focused on the intersection of technology, education, and social justice, building a critical lens for the design, development, and evaluation of technology.

My dissertation centered on technology design, community knowledge building, and learning processes. As part of this, I ran participatory co-design research with an 8th grade class to build an augmented reality book.
